To transport biowaste from a deposit to a methanizer, it is necessary to set up logistics which will be guided by several points.
The first criterion is the nature and packaging of the biowaste: a suitable mode of transport will be chosen depending on whether the biowaste is solid/liquid, in bulk, on pallets, etc.
The nature of the biowaste will also define the regulations that apply to transport. All biowaste going to methanization is considered 'non-hazardous' (DND), so the regulations do not require a waste tracking slip. However, they do require registration in the waste register: producer, collector, transporter and methanizer must all keep their own register up to date.
It may happen that a waste tracking slip is nevertheless completed, at the request of one or more of the stakeholders who have a strong requirement in terms of traceability. In this case, the slip must be completed and signed by each of them and then kept for 5 years.
This document provides all the information necessary for good traceability: nature and volumes of waste, origin, destination, etc.
Other similar documents may be issued when transporting biowaste, such as the DAC (Commercial Accompanying Document), which is particularly necessary for accompanying animal by-products.
There is a classification of waste according to codes which allow biowaste to be referenced in this type of document:
The transport of biowaste requires strict maintenance of containers (skips, pallet boxes, etc.) between each rotation to ensure good hygiene and avoid the proliferation of possible bacteria.
It is important to minimize the distance between the two points as much as possible to maintain an eco-responsible approach.
